Grainger Gold Thimble Royal Worcester Historic Pattern Set 1993 A/f:
FOR AVOIDANCE OF ALL DOUBT YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE SAME THIMBLE PICTURED FROM DIFFERENT SIDES
This is one of thebeautiful thimblesfrom the Historic Patterns Through the Ages setcommissioned in 1993 by Compton & Woodhouse, an English mail-order company, to commemorate the 242-year old heritage [1751-1993] of Royal Worcester.
Eachthimble wasdecorated with anhistorical pattern found on early pieces of Royal Worcester - this one being Grainger Gold - a band of golden flowers and leavesand embellished withgold lines round the top and bottom.
It is stamped inside, in black, with the familiar Royal Worcester England mark.
It measures very approximately 27mm high x 22mm base diameter.
The thimble is not chipped or cracked though under close magnification I can see quite a lot of fine scratches on the gilding though not deep enough to reveal the china under. Also, as you can see, the top gold line is crooked and there is pinprick size indentation under the gilding (2nd picture) ; the standing edge is also a bit uneven and could denote a ground out chip.
Sorry, I don't have any of the cards issued with the thimbles.
I have pictured and described the thimble honestly and the best I can; it is NOT marked as a factory second and is still a pretty display item but the maker's flaws and wear are reflected in the asking price and you are offerding on this basis.
If you have any doubts or questions please ask before offerding and I will be happy to help.
I am totally honest about my charges and do not inflate my p&p rates to compensate for my realistic starting prices.
I also offer a generous postal discount for multiple purchases but this is not applied automatically so if you are buying more than one thimble from me, PLEASE, do not pay for your items individually, instead, wait for my invoice which will combine your purchases and apply the discount.
