Great Civil War Era Seth Thomas Ogee Top Antique Shelf Clock- Runs For Sale
Great 1850s-1860s vintage Seth Thomas Ogee top antique shelf clock. This rarer model clock sports a cleaned and oiled 30hour set of brass works stamped "Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow" and matches what is left of the interior label and date it to around the time of the American Civil War. I would say the inside paper glued label is about 45-50% intact but dark. Most of the beautiful rosewood veneerhas beenrefinished at some pointbut isintact& tight within only minor losses on the sides of the top bottoms of the case fromhandling it (see pics). Has the original looking glass hole in the bottom to see the moving pendulum inside, reverse glass is old and looks original. The backboard is split and damage free. The clock is all original except for the paper dial which is over-layed on the original zinc painted one below.
The clock runs and counts out the hour, but a little fast, an iron gong with a brass and lead pendulum bob. Comes with a key. Overall this is a nice example of a regal and handsome old time keeper. Stands about 13" tall, 7" wide and about 4" deep. Winner to pay actual shipping through FedEx Ground with insurance. I try to be as thorough as possible about condition but opinions can vary- so please ask questions. As with all shipped clocks, it will need to be adjusted after shipping. Thanks! Low reasonable reserve, no international buyers please.
