Grumman F11f / F-11 Tiger Carrier-borne High Performance Fighter Model/ Case For Sale
This is possibly a one of a kind Grumman model with case. It was used as a sample for salesman making presentations to the government. It is well crafted. Unique and rare. I have not cleaned it for fear of damaging it. I will post many pictures. It is 18 inches long, 12 inches wide. It sits on a plexi glass base. It rotates side to side. The bottom fins tilt back. It has its own travel case it fits in.. There is some minor paint damage do to use and age. This plane was scrapped and not many sold. As a result this model is even rarer. It possibly should be in a museum. Good offerding. I am starting the offerding low to allow collectors to determine the value. The F11F Tiger (later redesignated to the more traditional F-11 Tiger) was intended to be the next answer for the United States Navy in terms of dogfighting performance. The F-11F was of a mid-monoplane design fitted with a single Wright-series turbojet engine. Initial prototypes performed poorly in terms of the power and handling that was generated through the engine. Though the size of the aircraft was on par with the smaller storage space needed for carrier operations, the aircraft just simply could not perform as the specs required. In the end, powerplant after powerplant was issued in the hopes that the system would finally come together.
