I am raising money for an eye operation let my bad health benefit you when you acquire this beautiful guitar. This is a beautiful guitar! With the fastest neck and fingerboard you will find on an acoustic/electric. It has a small rough spot on the neck see pictures. It also has cracks in the nitro cellulose. You have to get the light at a low angle to photograph those. The cracks are on the face (I included photos - you will notice they don\'t show in most of the photos) there also are cracks on the side near the electronics those I could not seem to capture in the photos but there are multiple cracks there). Other than that the electronics are working and it is in very good shape I would say excellent if it did not have cracks in the varnish. I do not have a caliper but the action is low across the entire neck. The neck is straight and it plays as well as my guitars that were pleked. This was the top of the Guild f line at the time it was built and exudes quality. Fabulous sound unplugged or plugged. The neck is a rounded C more like a Stratocaster than an acoustic. Although the body is thin the volume is loud partly due to the 16\" lower bout and partly due to the laminated arched back. The build is excellent the mother of pearl and abalone flash with the least movement. The case has its key and the pamphlets that were in the original. I listed it as vintage because it is from the highly desirable Westerly, RI plant which closed long enough ago I think it probably is vintage. The Guild serial number system is almost as confusing as the Gibson system. I bought the guitar used off . I have not been able to figure out when it was built. My luthier explained this to m,e about the Guild guitars with a laminated back: Guild was one of the innovators at the time and their lamination process is not to be confused with modern plywood. First they used top grade tone woods and the layers have the grain running in the same direction. It cost more than solid wood but had the advantages that it could be made thinner and be used with out braces which actually dampen sound. It also could be bent into the arched back and was more resistant to response. Some of the top classical guitar makers use lamination for strength without braces for instance Ramirez 1A , Smallman, and Gibson uses it in their J 185 blues master to reduce feed back.Guild f65ce is the model that was used by such illustrious artist as:
Rzeznick of Goo Goo DollsHarry ChapinJeff Boninn (The Chosen Few, Wildfires)Here is what Guild said about this model:
Guild has designed the ideal guitar for those who are looking for a natural sound plugged or unplugged. The F-Series acoustic-electrics are unmistakably Guild. The classic Guild Valencia body shape continues in these modern guitars. The body has been given a custom cutaway and an oval sound hole. The body depth has been reduced, but the feel and sound is still there. The F65 is the top of the line and it features the classic G shield on the small size head stock for better balance with the body. It comes with all the decoration appropriate for a top of the line Guild.
