Featured cabochon - Polished quartz from very old gold quartz stock mined in the historic Eastern Australia goldfields of Gympie. The mines of this region have been closed for several years now. It seems unlikely more high-grade gemstone like this will be produced any time in the near future. The matrix quartz comprising this stone is unusually white. Here\'s a listing which represents the very richest of this gemstone type. As you can see, the top, show face is full of gold and stunning. The densely-concentrated gold rests inside snow white quartz. Associated within is an unknown black mineral. Australia gold, in general, tends to be of very high purity. This gemstone cab wasn\'t made in a factory, it\'s natural gold ore mined from a famous Australia mining district andpolished to a sheen. Such lapidary rough as this is beyond rare.
