Hampden Electric Watch Co. 18 size 17 jewel open face lever-set marked \"Electric Railway\" on the movement. Very rare watch made for the Electric Railway (streetcar) service, this is the only example I\'ve seen of an 18 size Hampden marked \"Electric Railway\" I have ever seen. Watch is fronted by a sunk-seconds enamel \"Hampden Watch Co.\" marked dial and is housed in an Illinois Watch Case Co. base-metal case. Movement serial number is 2640034.

Running and a very nice looking movement with good color and luster. Plates do have some typical mild marks, probably most notably a short scratch on the barrel bridge above the last part of the word \"Electric\". Casescrews are mismatched. Dial faces up nicely but has a light hairline along the top between the 56 minute and 5 minute area and also has a small edge nick and small hairlines outside the 52 to 53 minute area. Case is in solid condition but has not been cleaned or polished. In response to aquestion, thebarrel bridge is correct and original to this movement as the underside of the barrel bridge is marked with the matching 2640034 serial number same as the main plate. The damaskeen pattern on this movement with the fancier main plate and the plainer barrel bridge with a horizontal fancy stripe is the same as what is found on Hampden\'s \"Dueber Grand\" grade of this same era.
