Up for sale is a unique piece of hand blown glass art!!!

It's brand new. I just made it. My Mom is holding the bowl.

This piece is an original design by the emerging glass artist Dirwood (me).

Here are the details for this piece:

Width: 9"

Height: 7½"

Colors: This bowl has a striking pattern of red, green, aqua, yellow, blue, gold topaz and more. The pattern was made using an Italian technique with glass canes (thin rods of colored glass). First I made the canes - then I made the bowl. See close ups below.

Although I sell my art in stores and galleries, I also sell on because I can quickly find out if people like a particular style. Also... at galleries I may have to wait months for a piece to sell, and then another month or two to collect 50% of the selling price. On , my piece will sell quickly and I get paid right away. Here are some recent projects I have completed...

One of my favorite applications of color use in the blowing process is working with glass canes.

All these bowls are made with the techniques of pulling and fusing glass canes to create the patterns.

Here are some pictures of my Mom and I pulling some canes.

I really love this process... it's exciting stretching molten glass across the driveway.

It is really important that the glass be at just the right temperature, because if the glass is too hot,

it falls to the ground and if its not hot enough it won't pull.

Depending on the type of canes we pull, sometimes we pull them over 100 feet!
