JUDICIARY DEPARTMENT: Hawaii Cover sent Feb.27, 1877 to the Honorable A.F. Judd “First Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Honolulu. Franked with Two Hawaii Scott#35 and a MH cancel #222.02 scarcity 3. HAWAII #35 TIED TO A RARE COVER BY THE "PUMPKIN FACE" CANCEL, MEYER HARRIS #116. LATER FORM OF MARKING #115, AS ALTERED IN 1877 BY SHORTENING THE PINS SO THAT THEY PRINTED AS TINY CIRCLES, THUS MAKING A DESIGN SUGGESTING A PUMPKIN FACE.
NOTE: (Small area of the rear flap on reverse right top missing, Rear flap is sealed .)
Cover is opened at bottom and part way up side ( not noticeable) This is a rare Associate Justice of the Supreme court cover.
