HEAVY TIFFANY & Co ENGLISH BRITANNIA SILVER 1700s STYLE REPRO LIGHTHOUSE TEAPOT

Presented is a superb English Britannia silver tall coffee or teapot. This piece dates to 1920, and was made for Tiffany & Co by Robert Frederick Fox. The teapot is done in a traditional lighthouse form, in the style of the early 1700s. The silver standard in use at the time was Britannia, which has a purity of 958. It is worth noting that this is higher than sterling silver purity, which is 925. The teapot is done in a paneled, octagonal shape. The wooden handle is done in an elegant scrolled design. The teapot is a good heavy weight, made from thick sturdy silver. One side has a nice crest of of a lion beneath a paw holding a cross. Below the crest is a banner with the Latin motto 'Recte et Suaviter' which translates to 'Justly and mildly.' The underside has an inscription reading "To Eleanor Erving King from her cousin Sara Gracie Iselin, May 10, 1924."

This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

This piece is hallmarked on the side with the Britannia mark for 958 purity silver, the lion's head erased for the city of London, the date letter e for 1920, and the maker's mark for ???. The underside of the pot is marked 'Made in England for Tiffany & Co.'

The teapot is about 9 1/4 inches tall.

This piece weighs 748 grams or 26.4 regular ounces.
