THIS IS A VERY HANDSOME VINTAGE 970 STERLING SILVER RING. IT IS VERY WEIGHTY (26.0 GRAMS, OR .91 OZ) AND GENEROUS IN SIZE (1" TALL X 7/8" AT WIDEST) IT IS A CARVED DEEP GREEN STONE (COULD BE JADE OR ADVENTURINE) OF A WARRIER ON A SHIELD BACKGROUND, WITH CROSSED SWORDS ON THE SIDES. IT IS SIZE 9-1/2 IT IS CLEARLY SIGNED WITH 5 STAMPS AT THE TOP IS THE EAGLE WITH #3 2ND MARK IS THE ANTONIO PINEDA TAXCO WITHIN A CROWN STAMP 3RD MARK IS A CIRCLE WITH LETTERING THAT SAYS "LOS CASTILLO S0C COOP SCL; WITH SEC AND NUMERAL 2 IN THE CENTER. 4TH STAMP IS HECHO EN MEXICO; BOTTOM STAMP IS 970. Antonio Pineda (1919 - 2009) is a well known Mexican artist, and studied as a young boy with William Spratling. He founded his own workshop in 1941.
