This is a very nice and very lightly used Heddon Premier # 115 8-1/2' Bamboo Fly Rod.It is a threepiece rod with an extra tip and comes withits original Heddon aluminum tube and rod sock. The label on the sock is correct to this specific rod. "Heddon Premier" is written along one side of the rod shaft and on the other side is # 115 - 8-1/2' - 2 - F - H D H or informationwritten in a straight line indicates that the rod was made sometime after 1939. This arrangement gave Searsa product with the prestigeousHeddon Label and it provided Heddon with the added advertising exposure of the world's largest retailer.
Overall, this vintage rod is in outstanding condition. Please check outthe pictures thoroughly. The reel seat and compression hardware are in good condition and function properly. The cork handle is clean and free of any dings, dents or gouges and all of the line guides and thread-wraps are intact, straight and tight. The Butt Section and and both Tip Sections measure exactly 34-1/2". The Intermediate Section is 1" shorter (33-1/2") and the thread-wrap on the top ferrule, while professional in appearance, has been replaced. This can be viewed in picture # 9. All of the other wraps appear to be original. The ferrules are in good condition with no cracks and they fit together nicely. I can find nocracks or delamination anywhere in the cane. The varnish finish is in good condition and there is no evidence of it having been refinished. There is a minor warp about6" below the top ferrule on the Intermediate section and there is a very slight fishing set over the entire rod. This is anextremely nice Heddon "Premier"that will make a significant addition to most any collection or if you are into fishing "Vintage Bamboos" this one will not disappoint.
