Hm1892 Heart Shaped Faux Tortoise Shell & Silver Chamber Stick William Comyns For Sale
This stunning faux tortoise shell and sterling silver chamberstick measures 120mm (5'') x 100mm (4'') x 75mm (3'') high and weighs 82 grams. It is hallmarked in several places for solid English Sterling Silver London 1892 with the makers mark for the well know quality Victorian silversmith William Comyns. As you would expect from Comyns the silver work is extremely high quality and delicate in design with a heart shaped piece of faux tortoise shell as the base which has great a patina. It is a very striking piece and is in good antique condition with a chip to the underside of the rim and a small crack (photos11,12) but I have lived with this piece for a long time and only just noticed them while taking the photos. A truly stunning of late Victorian design by one of the best silversmiths of the period. International buyers are always welcome to this sale. F.M.O.C.
