Up for sale is this HUGE, Victorian-Era, acorn-shaped turned wood finial or newel post cap with traces of old paint.
The dimensions of this finial are a whopping 11-1/4\" tall x 5-5/8\" in diameter.
More than a hundred years old, this architectural piece is in remarkable condition, with only a few \"nicks\" here and there.Absolutely no splitting or checking of any kind. Only (3) mounting holes in the base where the finial was attached to the newel.Most of the paint has been either removed or rubbed off, leaving a sort of metallic silver/grey tone to the wood.
