This is the original final art by Hal Forrest, drawn in india ink on heavyweight paper, for the daily comic strip #3308 that appeared in newspapers December 10, 1938. This original features Sketeer with three others in a seaplane and Tommy Tompkins at the controls of his Mercury airplane, being pursued in the air by "the armed black pirate." Forrest created the popular aviation-adventure comic strip in 1928 and continued it through its 14-year run until 1942. This original is signed "Hal Forrest" by the artist in the last panel. Bell Syndicate, Inc. label is on the back. The image area was apparently enlarged by adding paper to three margins; most of the additional image is gone and only a remnant remains along the top.

There is glue staining in margins that only slightly affects the image area; paper has darkened a bit with age and there are a few spots: VERY GOOD+ condition.
