Beautiful working 17 Jewel Hamilton 10K Gold Railroad Pocket watch Model 917. With 15\" Gold Chain. I have had this watchfor many years. My grandfather was given this watch for retirement from the US Post Officeabout 50 years ago. He died in the 1970s and probably got this watch in the 1950\'s I would guess.Has 17 jewels and nice chain with JD at the end which was his name initials. I don\'t know muchmore that this.. The watch works when \"wound up\" it work\'sOk and tells time. I don\'t know if the chain is gold but would think its Gold \"plated\" Not sure. Look at the pictureshave tried to take as many photos as I can. Please ask any more questions you may have.
(I found out some info on the 917 Hamilton)The 917 grade was introduced in 1935 and was the replacement for the prior 12 size entry level pocket watch, the 912. There were a number of improvements introduced with the 917, including the Elinvar hairspring and a monometallic balance.
