I was told that this set may have had a monogram removal, which would have occurred prior to my purchase. I have owned it for more than 10 years and had never noticed it, despite polishing this set several times and displaying it in my home. Holding it inbright light,I can seea very faint outline that appears similar to a very slightcrease on the face of at least three of the pieces, too faint to appear in any of the photos that I took, which are posted. If there was a removal, the work was completed very competently and does not affect the appearance of any pieces of this set.

REED & BARTON: History in brief The Reed & Barton story began in 1824, when Isaac Babbitt created a new metal alloy - \"Britannia metal\" - in his Taunton, Massachusetts pewter shop.
Babbitt joined forces with craftsmen Henry G. Reed and Charles E. Barton to produce this innovative, higher quality pewter ware. When Babbitt encountered financial difficulties, Reed & Barton offered to take control and began manufacturing products under their own names. The fledgling company\'s goods reflected uncompromising standards of excellence that extend toits exquisite sterling silver creations, like this featured sale. The company has remained privately owned by the family of Henry Reed. Reed & Barton maintains its headquarters in Taunton, Massachusetts, once known as \"Silver City\" because of the number of silver companies operating there.
