Handmade Zulu Beadwork This doll wears traditional beaded braids and is decorated with a beaded necklace and apron.
Each
Doll is one of a kind, individually made by Zulu Artisans.
Approximately 11" tall.
The Zulus are the largest tribe in Southern Africa, renowned for their
artistry and craftsmanship.
Zulu beading is intimately related to the culture and plays in
intergral part in all traditional ceremonies.
We work with several different cooperatives in South Africa which are
using native crafts to help women and HIV positive individuals to be
financially independent.
The Sangoma are the traditional healers in Zulu Culture. They often wear white beads braided into their hair. Sangoma practice physical, spiritual and emotional healing, oversee birth and death rituals, protect warriors and narrate the myths and history of their tradtions.
