Hand written notification of deposit dated Dec. 8, 1881, to Fort Shaw, Montana
Hand written notification of deposit dated Dec. 8, 1881.Written on Office Disbursing Quartermaster stationery.Addressed to Mr. William Mulcahy, Forth Shaw, Montana. (The Post Quartermaster)The notification reads, "As per request in letter from Post Q. M. Fort Shaw of 6th inst. I have this day deposited in 1st National Bank here to the credit of J. H. McKnight & Co. $1455.56 in payment for 173 cords 2 feet 3 in. wood delivered at Fort Shaw in Oct. & Dec. 1881. "Will Lt. Jones please inform McKnight of deposit and request him to acknowledge reception when notified by Bank. "Very Respectfully &c. "A.G. Robinson "Major & Q. M. U.S.A"There is an endorsement executed in red and black ink on the other side. There is an oval stamp in red ink on the same side which reads "Francis B. Jones / Received" and then the date, December 10, 1881.Size: 7 ¾ x 10 " Folded horizontally in thirds. Tears along one of the folds repaired with clear tape.
