These tin ornaments are hand-tooled, then painted on both sides with shiny, translucent acrylic paint. Each one has a ring through which you can put a hook or string a line. They are from the renowned workshop of Oaxacan tinsmith Angel Valdez, offered here on by Viva Oaxaca Folk Art in Boston, MA. Each piece measures at least 4\" tall. You are offerding on the set of TEN pieces in the styles as shown, packaged in an unpriced box. The specific colors of each hand-painted piece may vary from what is shown on photos.

HISTORY: Tin ornaments are as bright and shiny as chrome, yet remarkably lightweight. Each piece is cut and embossed by hand, then painted with transparent acrylic paint. The art of tin work (hojalata) is one of Mexico\'s most colorful crafts, popular with both tourists and collectors of folk art. Tin is made by dipping thin sheets of iron into molten tin, coating them with a shiny surface that is resistant to corrosion. The material can be easily bent, crimped, cut and soldered to form intricate shapes.
