Handmade hardwood Eku ( eiku, oar) for practicing kobudo, made of oak and maple:
$97.00

The Eiku (eku, kai, ieku) is an ancient Okinawan weapon used in the martial arts practice of Kobudo.

To defend themselves against Japanese invaders in the middle ages, Okinawans developed fighting styles using many of the farming and fishing tools they used in their everyday lives. The Eku derived from oars used by fishermen.

Our version features an oblong/oval handle to better control blade angle. The face of the oar is flat, sloping upwards slightly at the tip, the back slopes down the entire length of the blade, with a slight ridge in the center. Finish is natural oils.

This eku is made of oak, with walnut accent. Length is 65\".
