Harley Davidson Painted Inner Fairing & Switch Cover:
Listing Update 8/5/2014: Dear past and future customers, I plan on deleting this listing in the next few days. I didn't want to delete the listing without passing on the following information: I was recently in a work related accident where my hand was severely injured. Today I learned that my injury is going to require surgery and extensive healing and rehab. Since I am a "hands on" operator of the business, this will mean that my business will be disrupted for the next few months as I have no ability to train my current employees to take over if my hand is already injured. During my rehab, it looks like I will have the opportunity to have new facility constructed on a recently acquired piece of property. So the timing is good in one way, but not so good in other ways as I will not be able to accept any new paint work for at least the foreseeable future. The way it looks right now, I will be out of business for the next 6-8 months. I will delete the listing until I am able to accept new work as it doesn't pay to keep a listing active with out the associated off setting income.
Please read this listing carefully as there is a lot of information to digest. I've tried to keep it as simple as possible, but at the same time, explain everything.
For 2014 models, please see my other listing. The following information applies to Model Year 2013 and earlier:
Do you like the custom look of a color matched painted inner fairing but don't want to pay the factoryprice of over $599 for the parts, or wait weeks, for the new factory painted part?
This listing allows you to do one of two things: #1 send us your existing Harley-Davidson inner fairing and have it professionally painted to match the factory color, and returned to you, or #2, we order new parts from Harley and we paint the parts when they arrive). Turn around times are typically 10-14 days. Factory lead times for Harley painted parts are over 30 days. I can usually get your fairing back to you in 2 to 2 1/2 weeks from the time I receive the parts, including shipping time. Typically, the only thing that would delay the turn around is if I have to order new parts or paint from Harley to match your color, but I keep most colors in stock ready to go. If I know your parts are on the way, I can have color on-hand before your parts arrive.
OPTION #1 - SEND US YOUR EXISTING FAIRING OFF YOUR BIKE OPTION: Send me your existing bare matte black plastic innerfairing and switch housing and I will professionally refinish it in the factory Harley-Davidson color of your choice.
For $325 (plus exact return shipping), I will paint both the inner fairing and fairing cap (switch housing) on any bat wing style fairing (FLHT Electra Glide, FLHTC Classic, FLHTCU Ultra Classic, FLHX Street Glide).
If the paint isa "tri-stage" color, the refinish chargeswill bean additional $50. I will confirm with you whether or not your color is a tri-stage before I paint your part. If you want to know ahead of time, simply message me your VIN number and I can let you know right away. To be clear, a tri-stage color is defined as a base color, a mid coat of either transparent pearl or candy, and a final clear coat. There are several tri-stage colors out there. For example, White Gold Pearl is a tri-stage. Other tri-stage colors include, but are not limited to: Big Blue Pearl, Candy Orange, Ember Red Sunglo, Merlot, Crimson Red Pearl, Candy Red Pearl, Red Hot Pearl, Sunset Yellow Pearl, White Ice, Black Ice, and Mirage Orange. 2013 colors are now available, including Anniversary Vintage Bronze and Anniversary Vintage Black. The new 2013 color "Beer Bottle" is not available.
If you own an FLTR Road Glide with the fixed fairing, please contact medirectly for a price quote(contact info below).
OPTION #2 - NEW INNER FAIRING OPTION: Instead of us painting your existing fairing, if you want a brand-new inner fairing painted your factory color, we now have an option for you. For $529.00 plus exact shipping, I will send you a brand new bat wing style inner fairing and switch cover painted the factory color of your choice. You keep your old factory matte black fairing. No extra charge for tri-stage colors when you choosethis option. This option allows you to keep your bike on the road while I'm working on your parts. This option also allows you to save money on shipping your parts to us. You only pay for one-way shipping instead of back-and-forth shipping. This option also saves you money over the part painted from Harley. Right now the factory painted part number is $599.95. Contact me directly for payment, color info, and turn-around times. Keep in mind that this option is not the most cost effective method of having your inner fairing painted, as you are paying for both the new parts and the paint work. Because, if you send me your existing fairing, you will save moneysince you are not paying for new parts. We do not stock new inner fairings or inner fairing parts. All parts are ordered individually when orders are placed with our shop.
Again, if you ownFLTR Road Glide with the fixed faring and you want a newinner fairing painted, please contact me directly (contact info below) for a quote.
If you need other parts painted to match your bike, email me for a quote.
PAINT MATCH INFO & HARLEY COLORS:
Some colors are not available or I don't have an acceptable color match
to offer you. Many of the Screamin' Eagle or CVO colors are not
available, or if they are available, match poorly. Also, many of the
limited edition Harley Custom Colors are impossible to find an
acceptable match. As of right now, there is not a good color match for
Light and Dark Root Beer as Harley does not make this color in sprayable
quantities. If you have a limited edition Harley, please call or write,
to make sure I can match your color. If your bike is a stock
production motorcycle, I will usually have a good color match.
If the paint isa "tri-stage" color, the refinish chargeswill bean additional $50. I will confirm with you whether or not your color is a tri-stage before I paint your part. If you want to know ahead of time, simply email me your VIN number and I can let you know right away. To be clear, a tri-stage color is defined as a base color, a mid coat of either transparent pearl or candy, and a final clear coat. There are several tri-stage colors out there. For example, White Gold Pearl is a tri-stage. Other tri-stage colors include, but are not limited to: Big Blue Pearl, Ember Red, Merlot, Crimson Red Pearl, Candy Red Pearl, Red Hot Pearl, Sunset Yellow Pearl, White Ice, Black Ice, Merlot, and Mirage Orange. 2013 colors are now available, including Anniversary Vintage Bronze and Anniversary Vintage Black. The new 2013 color "Beer Bottle" is not available. For 2014 colors and inner fairings, see my other listing for a complete description of your options.
When ever we can, we order paint directly from the Harley-Davidson
factory to ensure the best possible color match. We keep most late
model Harley colorsin stock (including the low gloss denim colors) to
ensure quick turn around times. We use only the highest quality plastic
primers, sealers and the highest quality acrylic-urethane clears. We do
not cut corners on paint material quality.
Two Tone Bikes: I do not recommend two-toning an inner fairing. It
is just too expensive and time consuming. Adding quality pin striping
is a very time consuming process and must be done by hand to looknice.
If your bike is two-tone, I recommend that the inner fairing be painted
the predominant of the two colors. Usually the predominant color is
the main color of the tank, not the panel color.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
If you are sending me your inner fairing, you must remove and disassemble the inner fairing and switch housing from your motorcycle, or have someone do it for you.The factory service manual is a useful tool if you have never taken apart an innerfairing. There should be no parts or items attached to the fairing, it should be bare plastic. However, you can leave the side gaskets attached. We will remove and re-install the side gaskets. The fairing must be in good condition and free of damage. If we need to fix gouges or deep scratches, additional repair charges will apply. We will contact you before beginning work if there will be additional charges. You should carefully package and UPS the pieces to me at the below address. It is also very important that we determine the exact color you want. I don't want to paint your item the wrong color because we "guessed" at the color. If there is ANY QUESTION as to the correct color, I will contact you before any paint work is started.
SENDING YOUR PARTS & PAYMENT INFO:
The best/quickest/easiest way to get your inner fairing painted is: 1) Send me your parts to be painted, don't include any payment,2) Do include your email address, 3) include the year, and model of your bike, 4) include your VIN Number of your bike to confirm color, 5) include your name, return shipping address, and phone number in the shipment, 6) I will contact you when the fairing arrivesatmy shop and let you know it arrived safely and give you an estimated time of completion, 7) Once the work is completed, I'll take digital pictures of your painted fairing and email the pictures to you so you can see the completed work, 8) Then I will send you a Pay Pal invoiceto your email address for the paint work and exact UPS ground shipping, 9) You pay the Pay Pal invoice and your painted inner fairing is on its way back to you and I email you tracking info. Simple?
If you are taking advantage of the option of having a new inner fairing painted, please message me and I'll confirm colors, shipping charges, and turn-around times.
A NOTE ON SHIPPING CHARGES: I don't mark up shipping charges, but I hesitate to put a shipping calculator in this listing because of the inaccuracy of the shipping calculator on large boxes, plus I don't know what size box you are going to use to send us the parts. Because of the size, inner fairings require oversize UPS boxes. You must obtain your own box to ship me your items. I will use the same box to return your fairing. UPS will charge extra for boxes that are larger than necessary. I have had good luck saving money on shipping by "cutting down" a box that is bigger than needed. Keep in mind that these inner fairings are tough. They don't need much padding or shipping protection, especially on the way to me. Pretty much, as long as they are in a box and not flopping around inside, the fairing won't be damaged. Just leave an inch orso for packing material. So I suggest cutting down the box enough for the fairing to fit and save some money. Here's a tip: Don't use the UPS store to ship your fairing. The UPS store is going to charge you a full retail rate to print a label and attach it to your box. Go to myups.com and create an account and print your own label. You will save about 25-30% over the UPS store price. Once your label is printed and attached to your box, drop it off anywhere with a UPS pick-up for no additional charge.
