Haviland Limoges Folded Napkin/napkinfold #1118 7" Plate Lycett Studio Flowers:
Offering a pair of plates by Haviland & Co., Limoges. The pattern is Folded Napkin or Napkinfold. These plates were imported as blanks, or white ware, from France by David Haviland. The plates were then sent to Lycett Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, a very famous painting studio which was in existence circa 1884-1909. The #1118 is a rare blank and the decorator is rare as well. These plates are 7" x 7" and are octagon shaped, having a "fold" on each corner, hence their pattern name. One plate features lilac colored flowers, along with a white flower, green & brown leaves and very fine gray stem. They are trimmed in gold and each corner fold is outlined in burgundy and filled with a gold frond like design. The other plate has pink flowers with yellow centers, brown fern leaves and green leaves. It also has gold trim as well as burgundy outlining each fold. Each plate bears the H & Co./L backmark and red print that reads Fired By Wm Lycett Atlanta Ga.The plates are in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There is some light wear to the gold. I'll leave any cleaning of the plates to the buyer as they are hand painted. Please look at the pictures and contact me with any questions before offerding.
