Heavy Antique Arkansas Toothpick Bowie Knife 1860s For Sale
Here is an old 12 1/2", Arkansas toothpicka heavy knife with a straight 8 1/2" blade. The 1/4" thick blade is in good shape. The 12 1/2" knife is balanced for throwing and can be used for thrusting and slashing. Judging by the handle size I think it was made for a smaller man. James Black, known as the inventor of the Bowie knife, is also credited with inventing the Arkansas toothpick. The original “Arkansas Toothpick Knife” was made in the early 1830s by James Black, still regarded as one of the most renowned knife makers in American history.Looks like the handle is horn with some old worm damage, pictured. Unmarked . Handle and guard are tight. Looks to date to around the 1860s-70s. Santa Fe arms collection. I sell my listings WITHOUT A RESERVE , and NO returns. Study
