Heisey Glass YEOMAN #1184 Crystal w Etching Open Salt Dip Cellar SIGNED HAWKES:

This open salt is tub shaped, made by the Heisey Glass Company, Newark Ohio, ca 1914-1956. The pattern is Yeoman, #1184. Often found in color, this one is crystal clear with bouquets of flowers etched around the bowl and on the tabbed handles. It measures about 1-1/16 from tab to tab, 1-13/16 diameter, and is about 1-1/16\" high. The Heisey pattern #1184 is unsigned. However, what is unique about this one is, it IS SIGNED with acid-etched HAWKES on the base. I don\'t pretend to know all the remarkable history of this. Perhaps Heisey collectors have studied and can enlighten me. What I have assumed (you know what that\'ll get me) is that these were sold by Mr. Heisey in the elegant clear crystal, and then they buyer had them etched by T. G. Hawkes Co. who signed HAWKES for the etching work. Now, I know all about the tre-foil acid-etched signature, but I researched and read that Mr. Hawkes used just the word HAWKES sometimes in the 20th century. It strikes me this may have been a special order, perhaps for a wedding or anniversary. I\'m only guessing about that. Maybe you\'d like to own one and investigate it for yourself. A nice gift item, too!

Condition: I found no issues;no roughness, no chips nor cracks. It\'s absolutely beautiful!
