Highly Detailed 19th C Joseon Korean Or Chinese Watercolor Painting. Framed:
For sale is another outstanding Asian watercolor painting on fabric or silk that we are listing here in our store for your consideration. This, as well as the other two paintings, came from a very old collection of Asian antiques and artwork from an estate home in upstate New York.We are unsure of the region of this particular painting. The estate said it was Chinese however the estate also had many antique Korean Japanese and Chinese artifacts so we believe it could either be Joseon Korean or Chinese. We will leave it to your expertise to determine this. We are selling it as an antique 19th century Asian watercolor paintingThis painting was a re-framed at one point from its original frame. It has been cut and laid on the two of the frame matting and is surrounded by a carved wood in gold gilded frame. We do not see any chop marks on this piece but we are sure it is 19th century by word of the estate collectors. The painting itself is marvelous. It features many figures and deities in a gorgeous blue field a background.
It is painted on either a very fine linen or on silk. There are areas where there is some air bubbling as of the fabric is lifting in areas from the mat board underneath. There is also areas on the border with fabric/silk loss. We have taken detailed up close pictures so you can see this.It is a beautiful painting worthy of an addition to any collection of fine Asian paintings. It measures:
Frame - 55" x 23"
Image sight - 44" x 14 3/4"
