Historic White House Steel Plaque Of President Dwight D. Eisenhower - (signed) For Sale
is a solid steel, official oval shape and heavy wall plaque from The
White House from 1960 that was used at some point in the interior wall
of the hallway leading to the Rose Garden and then given as a gift to Gary Sondheim, an very close friend and adviser to President Dwight Eisenhower.
It remained in Sondheim's collection at his New York residence until his passing and later was acquired by a famous collector in Boston, Massachusetts.
It comes with a typed note from President Dwight Eisenhower in his personal stationary from The White House, affixed on the back of the plaque, and it bears the embossed seal from his office making it even more authentic. This presidential letter alone has been valued at $4,000.
This unique plaque was specially designed and beautifully crafted by sculptor Larry Selznick who was commissioned by President Eisenhower in 1959 to design it. It is well preserved as it has remained inside a glass case for many decades. It is in pristine condition and of great quality and detail without any major scratches.
The seal measures an impressive 10" in length by 7" in width, made of exquisite tempered steel and hand enameled in red and very well preserved. After his administration the seal changed its color to the one used today, royal blue.
The letter from President Eisenhower certifies and confirms the authenticity of this historic piece which bears his signature and the presidential embossed seal below it is shown in the photos.
