History Of John Deere {7 Vintage Catalogs} On Dvd For Sale
DESCRIPTION
John Deere was an American blacksmith and manufacturer who founded Deere & Company— the largest agricultural and construction equipment manufacturers in the world. Born in Rutland, Vermont, Deere moved to Illinois and invented the first commercially successful steel plow in 1837. The wrought-iron framed plow had a polished steel share, which made it ideal for the tough soil of the Midwest and worked better than other plows. By early 1838, Deere completed his first steel plow and sold it to a local farmer, Lewis Crandall, who quickly spread word of his success with Deere's plow. So two neighbors soon placed orders with Deere. By 1841, Deere was manufacturing 75-100 plows per year.
Includes a wonderful vintage DVD republication for the John Deere Machinery Catalog of 1896. Loads of information, illustrations, prices and even a bit of company history in this 350+ page catalog. Dozens of pages of replacement part illustrations, part numbers and pricing of over 100 years ago. A wonderful collectable for any one interested in early farming equipment.
Also the 380 page John Deere Plow Catalog of 1921. Hundreds of pages of heavily illustrated pages showing John Deeres plow line complete with factory history, manufacturing process, proper use and hitching of plows, all with complete specifications for each model available.
You will find a few colored plates scattered thru out the book, as well as information on disc harrows, corn and bean planters, seed drills, beet pullers, grain drills, grain binders, mowers, rakes, hay loaders, manure spreaders, a huge section of John Deere wagons, corn shellers, feeders, elevators, tractors, portable engines and more.
Plus the John Deere Machinery Catalog of 1928. Lots of information, illustrations and even a bit of company history in this 58 page catalog.
