Hitty Loves Oklahoma Charity Auction - Gale Lyons Hitty Package:
This sale features a hand-carved wooden Hitty by Hitty artist Gale Lyons. She is 6-1/2 inches tall and her arms and legs are pegged so that they move in tandem. She comes wearing a simple pink cotton dress, pantalettes, white apron and a matching hand-crocheted bonnet, but because our Hittys love clothes so very much, she comes with an entourage of clothing, including: a blue cotton dress with delicate white decorative stitching, a blue long-sleeved dress with tiny white hearts with a shawl to match the sage green ribbon detailing on the hem and sleeves, a hand-knit sweater in heathery shades, a pink scottie dog pinny, a pink dress with white hearts with a shawl to match, a green shamrock dress with matching bonnet, a heather purple shawl and a beach set with a chair and an old fashioned swimsuit and matching quilt. Also included are a small packet of fat quarters along with trimmings, buttons and snaps to make your own dress, as well as a pink hankie with hand-crocheted edging for you to make a pinafore with a pink shawl to match. (Not everything may be pictured, but I tried to represent most of the items.)She also comes with a small selection of household accessories. Including a cottage-y painted cabinet with opening doors, a rug, a broom, a mouse, doll's doll (also made by Gale Lyons), a rag doll, a green quilt and pillow, a real china tea set with "Hitty" printed on the teapot, a wooden mouse, a welcome sign, a toy train set, a kit to make a wooden four poster bed including the soft mattress and pillow, a kit to make a settle bench and a kit assembled by Julie Old Crow to make a fancy bonnet (the coffee table is not included in this sale). This sale is being presented by Hittygirls, an active online doll group that collects dolls and accessories fitting small 6.5 inch wooden dolls. You can read about the original Hitty in Rachel Fields book, Hitty: Her First Hundred Years, illustrated by Dorothy Lathrop. The original Hitty doll resides at the Public Library in Stockbridge, MA.
