Holy Land, Ancient Islamic Oil Lamp, Ca. 700 Ad:
An orange-ware terracotta oil lamp from the Islamic period in the Holy Land, ca. 700 AD. Most likely a wheel formed piece, has a sharp raised edge around the fill hole to prevent leakage on the top surgace when filling. The wick hole shows evidence of ancient use, a small projection opposite functions as the handle. Several chips and dings, as might be expected from an item this old.
3-1/4" (8cm) outside diameter, 1-3/8" (3.2cm) in height, mounted (lamp can be removed for inspection) and labeled on a black painted wood plinth, the overall height is: 3-1/2" (8.7cm). I will furnish a color photocopy, laminated in clear plastic, of a similar lamp from the same time period, for complete, permanent, dating and culture documentation. Displays very nicely, will look wonderful in that special location in your home or office. Comes with my lifetime Certificate of Authenticity and Guarantee, offer with confidence, you will not be disappointed.
