A stunning late 19th Century Victorian period large Measham treacle glazed barge ware tea pot. Decorated in the traditional English style with colourful floral arrangements and pheasants. This ornate tea pot would probably have been a gift to the bargee\'s wife and is marked in central cartouce \"Here I have no continuing city but seeking one to come\" The lid is a smaller depiction of a tea pot.
Dimensions: 11 1/2(29.3cm) high by 12\"(30.5cm) wide
19th century Measham \'Bargeware\' pottery. Bargeware was made chiefly in the Burton-on-Trent area and was especially favoured by bargee\'s wives. A known maker of these usually unmarked wares was William Mason of the Pool Pottery, Church Greasley.
Would make a lovely gift and look beautiful in many homes or as designed on a barge.
