Item: Huge Early Victorian 1849 Sterling Silver Sugar Tongs William Robert Smily. A Very large pair of Queen Victorian English Sugar Tongs weighing at a very nice 44gms. Full English set of hallmarks to be found to the inside which are still very clear, also hallmarked to London. The set have been monogrammed to the back obviously commissioned for a wealthy Victorian family of the time. Nice early Victorian sugar tongs becoming harder to find in this large and heavy example. For the collector or investor of fine English Silverware. Nice period piece made by respected Silversmith maker.
Maker: William Robert Smily, 1843-1855 he died in 1858. He had his retail outlets in the famous Clerkenwell District of London.
Hallmarks: Makers Mark WRS, Date Letter O 1849, Lion .925 Sterling Silver Finest, Leopard London. Queen Victoria’s Side Cameo Portrait.
Size: 140mm long
Condition: No knocks or dents, surface marks consistent with age and genuine usage.
