First Edition in Fine Condition of Iain Sinclair\'s study Crash: David Cronenberg\'s Post-mortem on J G Ballard\'s \'Trajectory of Fire\'. Published by BFI, London as a BFI Modern Classic in 1999. 1st printing. In stiff card wrappers, paperbound original (no hardcover edition was issued).
In this book, Iain Sinclair analyses the relationship between David Cronbenberg\'s 1996 film and J G Ballard\'s 1973 novel and the relationship between Ballard himself and the character \'James Ballard\' in Crash to explore the temporal loop between film and novel. Includes an interview with Ballard bySinclair. \'If Cronenberg \"adapted\" Crash, he also absorbed it and made it into something new. Yet, the novel controls the film, or uses the film to disguise its subversive intent.\'
Like the novel, the film remains extremely controversial as they both depict graphic sex instigated by violence. The Daily Mail and Evening Standard tried to have the film banned and, although the BBFC passed it uncut, Westminster Council still banned it so it had no West End screening.
