CONDITION: IT’S IN SUPERB CONDITION THROUGHOUT
THIS IS A EDWARDIAN PERIOD ANTIQUE LOCKET OF A POPULAR AND VERY GENEROUS SIZE, IDEAL TO WEAR EACH AND EVERY DAY AND / OR SPECIAL ENOUGH TO KEEP JUST FOR THOSE CHERISHED OCCASIONS. A MOST ‘EYE CATCHING’ ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 Pence and U.S. 5 cents in inset picture for size comparisons).
This \'round\' locket has a lovely pictorial engraving of three \'birds amidst their pretty floral Environment. There\'s a gold top holding ring with an inner diameter of 4.5 mm.
The reverse side is of the same format but here we have two \'lovebirds\' swallows in flight above a lovely floral spray. (The swallow is a very popular subject matter in Victorian and Edwardian lockets, as the species that always returns safely each season). At the base we have the gold markings for \'9ct Back & Front\'.
This locket is that lovely mellow rose gold found in jewellery items from the years bordering the turning of the 19th/20th century (not today\'s brash pink rose gold). We have carefully ‘check tested’ the piece and confirm it is \'9ct Gold Back & Front\' category.
(9ct Back & Front is a locket category where the front and back panels are of solid 9ct gold, and check tested here, the internal frame and rim is not gold. This method of construction was used primarily to achieve greater strength and durability of the locket).
Yes, this locket is in excellent condition, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all, lovely polished surface throughout.

Inside the locket has watered silk insets and Perspex covers, there is a pullout retaining rim to the right hand side. The locket is firm to the press, there is no buckle effect at all when pressed.
