Up for sale is a Very Interesting and Rarely Seen Japanese Celadon Water Dropper Vessel. The Vessel is part of an Important Japanese Ceramics collection we have been saleing over the past few weeks.
The Vessel is a truly amazing piece, and I have never seen another piece remotely like this. I was told the Vessel would date to the 18 to 19th century period and would have been produced specifically for an Imperial Palace or Temple. I was told at the time period no common person would have ever possessed an example so elaborately made. I was told the Vessel is a very large water dropper which would have sat over a pond or body or water and then dripped for one to use when praying or in meditation. The Vessel is superbly carved to say the least, it is by far the finest detailing I have Ever seen on a Celadon example from any region. The top wood lid is also finely carved, and the lid has an intricately carved fire orange stone with carved mountainous scene with scholar figure. A fine and Very Interesting piece just on its own. The Vessel is also Signed on the base with a two-character mark which I am told reads Zuishi, and which I am told indicates the Vessel would have been produced at the Sanda Imperial Kilns. The Vessel shows some light wear, and has a tiny chip to the dragon spouts top finial. But for its early age and size the Vessel is in very fine original condition with no other chips, cracks, or repairs. The Vessel is a Very Large and Very Impressive display piece measuring 16 inches long including the dragon spout, by 12 inches wide, and sits 10 ¼ inches tall by itself, and 14 inches tall including the top stone finial. I believe the opportunity to purchase such an example outside a major sale house does not happen very often, mostly being offered with No Buyers Premiums, and Absolutely s! The Vessel is a Truly Astonishing and Amazing Museum Quality example.PLEASE REVIEW PAYMENT AND RETURN POLICIES PRIOR TO offerDING. BEST OF LUCK WITH THE sales! Mark your calendars this sale ends theEvening of Monday May 13th.
