Edwardian Wwi Antique Beaded Bags Or Reticules:
1900's Iridescent Beaded Purse
Carry a bit of glamor from the Turn of the last Century!
This exceptional purse is a sheath of jet beads hanging in stunning symmetry over a deep black fabric. Closes with a perfectly proportioned draw string through little black rings.
Just the thing to wear to Manhattan's Plaza Hotel, eh?
4 1/2" wide at the top, when laid fully flat
8 3/4" long
very good, considering its great age!
There are a few small pulls and it looks like it has been repaired at least once. Two black beads have been replaced with red beads, but this is just barely noticeable.
A few of the jet beads are missing & some are a bit loose, but it somehow still looks like it is new!---1910 Hand Beaded Purse
The best things come in small packages!
Tiny-tiny elegance in one, very vintage bag. This purse was hand-beaded over 100 years ago. Wouldn't we all love to look so perfect at 100-years-old? It is very fine woven work with silver beads placed into a charming balance of intricate & simple design. Silver beads jingle in a fringe of multi-faceted balls & slim ovals. An airy curve of fine, carved & detailed silver colored frame floats as a more solid reflection of the fringe's curve. Incredible!
2 5/8" wide at base of frame
6" from top of clasp to bottom of fringe
5 1/2" long chain
the stitching to attach the purse to the frame is trying to come un-sewn, but could very easily be fixed.---1920s Hand Beaded Reticule
This darling bag drips with luxuriant, sparkling beads in exuberant tassels, fringes, and flower-like clusters. Exceptional!
4" wide at the top, when laid fully flat
7 1/2" long, not including bottom tassel
9 3/4" long, including bottom tassel
very, very good, especially considering its great age!
Some of the beads may be a bit loose, but nothing drastic, at all. One bead has been replaced and the bottom tassel has been reattached at least once.
