Indian Wars 71st Regiment Ny Officer's Coat W/ Epaulets, Ridabock, Identified:
Discovered in the attic of an Upper Grandview, NY home, Ridabock & Co. issued navy blue Officer's coat has twenty seven (7/8" wide)brass buttons(one on back), with two smaller(1/2" wide)brass buttons on top at epaulets, 29 in all, each designed with an embosed outer floral ring, with "71" in the center(much on the Internet about this famous regiment). Tan lining, on which has the original owner's name written inside(see pic), on inside collar is drawn a number "32", likely the size. Inside collar at top edge is some heavy frauying, some rips at top edge, some of the blue threading to epaulets has loosened a bit, or is missing, but neither epaulet is loose, there is some wear around epaulets, one has appearence of well rooted dust from age, small hole in epaulet fabric, back of coat has light marks around lower region(see pic), there is an inch long split in shoulder seam next to left epaulet, there are 3 rips on inside section of tails(see last pic), there should be six addition buttons on back, but are missing. From shoulder seam to shoulder seam measures 16&3/4", from sholder seam to end of sleeve is 23".
