Up for saleis an 8.5" long tin friction powered open wheel race car. Carrying both the I.Y. (Yamazaki Gangyu ) and T.N ( Nomura ) tradmarks the car was made in Occupied Japan around 1948. These early post WW II era toys are very scarce and thisunique example is one of the rarest. It is extra clean and in very good condition with all parts intact. It has a strong friction motor as well. The car has that great art deco style with an awesome boat tail design. The attractivelight yellow and blue finish still has a great luster withno dents or dings and shows only light paint wear otherwise. Interesting litho on car body has the word SPEED emblazoned across the back, a #8 on right side and RACE CAR on left. Helmeted driver has great facial details.Chrome hubcaps with red lettered script reading SPEEDlook awesome.Trim all shines brightly but windshield shows some tarnish and exhaust has had a bit of touch up at some point. Interesting tractor style lug tires are all good with no cracks or flat spots and show I.Y. Toys lettering on sidewalls. A couple of the tires have a slight bend or warp in them. This does not affect operation of the toy at all. Friction motor runs smooth with great motor or siren sound. Another hard to find vintagetoy race car made even better withalow, low starting offer and ..........as always.
