I'd 46th Illinois Infantry Cdv & Reunion Medallion For Sale
Original Civil War CDV I'd 46th Illinois Infantry
& Veteran's Medalion
These two items came together andthus they will go together in this sale. First the CDV is of Captain Francis M. Lollar of Company F from Clay City, Illinois. The image is clear has good contrast, but does have a little staining across his mid section and light soiling. The edges are good and the corners with slight wear. He stands in full pose with his frock coat and shoulder boards clearlyshowing rank of Captain. The reverse of the image has a unique label showing how much the setting cost and identifies the person in period ink as well as the regiment.
The Medalion looks to be pieced together as a on top is a pin back with eagle motif and cross cannons. The drop is suspended with a piece of wire, obviously repaired on the go. The drop is a celluloid which on one side has the "Grand Army of the Republic" and badge - on the other side are two veterans in handshake, one have had an amputated leg. It is soiled, but the colors remain vivid.
