Iittala Finland Scandinavian Glass Wall Light/lamp Tapio Wirkkala Timo Sarpaneva:
An unusual item of Scandinavian glass which I purchased from a design fair about 15 years ago.Bought as a vintage piece, I think that it was made around the 1970s or 1980s and was probablydesigned by either Timo Sarpaneva or Tapio Wirkkala.
The glass has a double walled, mould-blown bark texture(vertical at thefront and horizontal at the back) which gives a very nice effect when lit.
The backing plate is made of a brass coloured metal and has a single hole for fixing to the wall. The four corner brackets are flexible to allow the glass shade to be mounted and removed. The light fitting takes a small, screw type bulb.
We connected this into our existing wall wiring by simply bending the 2 core flexaround the bottom edge of the backing plate. However, you could just extend the flex and run it down the wall to a nearby plug socketif you do not have any internal wall wiring.
Condition:In excellent condition. There is some use related wear to the back corners of the glass shade where it fits into the metal brackets. These areas are not obvious when installed.
