This is a lovely little brooch measuring 1.5 inches across by 1 inch deep approx. It is simply marked \"9ct GOLD\" and is one of those brooches which has been frost gilded to make it look higher carat than it actually is. It has a glass panel locket feature in the back for a lock of hair for mourning purposes, or a miniature photograph. I believe that this dates from the 1890s and its condition is exceptional compared to most brooches I come across of this sort of age. Weight is approximately 7.8 grams including the glass panel and liner in the back.
