ABOUT THIS ITEM: You see here a rare, very sophisticated and detailed engraving made in sterling silver, inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
This brotherhood was a group of English painters, poets and critics, founded in 1848 by W. Hunt, J.E. Millais and D.G. Rosetti.
Their paintings and poems were often inspired by myths, sagas and legends.
The society has created only dignified meaningful paintings with much symbolism, these painters are known for their dreamy and
fairytale scenes, they are the pioneers of the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) of which this work is a beautiful example.
The art piece is made in the Netherlands and is signed by the artist right below, the work is purchased at an art dealer in Amsterdam and
was provided with some documentation about the artist, unfortunately these papers are lost.
The plate has a classic and distinguished wooden frame, this can be placed on a desk but also be hung on a wall.
Dimensions are 33 1/2 cm wide and 27 cm high, weight is 1130 gram.
Bottom left are some marks, a standing lion with \"I\" (silver quality 925/1000) and \"925\", also an assay office mark (Amsterdam).
