Indian Cobra Snake Sabath Holder Jewish Shabbos India Cochin Museum Piece Art For Sale
Detailed item info
INDIAN COBRA SNAKE SABBATH HOLDERS JEWISH SHABBOS INDIA Cochin MUSEUM PIECE !
are a pair of Shabbat candle holders. I purchased them about 25 years
ago from a Jewish Indian family now living in Jerusalem but who made
Aliyah some time ago from Bombay. I've never seen a pair of candlesticks
in the shape of the Cobra, but here you have it! My estimate is that
these candlesticks are anywhere between 60 to 80 years old!
the back 'ears' of the snake are etched the words: " L'Kvod Shabbat
V'YomTov" (In Honor of the Sabbath & the Holidays). There are also 2
Star of David's etched in as well. On the front 'ears' are etched 2
Menora's. All I can say is that these candlesticks are rare and unique
and will make a wonderful side exhibit of the Jewish Community in India.
Candle holders measure 16cm (6 1/4 inches).
estimate these candle holders to be made anywhere between the 1920s and
1940s. The holders divide into 3 parts when unscrewed, the tail
section, mid section and the candle holder on top, absolutely wonderful
ANDUNUSUALpiece of Jewish art NOT TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE ELSE ON THIS
PLANET! Please click on the images to see a closeup view of these candlesticks!
