Indian colonial silver figural
chamberstick, c1930. This exquisite
chamberstick has three peacocks
supporting the candle cup. The circular
tray sits on three cobra head feet and
has an ornate scroll work wide border.
Inscribed along the border: *PRESENTED
TO DR. JONES BY MRS. GIRAJABAI DANDEKAR
The chamberstick is 4 1/4" in diameter,
2 1/2" tall and weighs 101 grams or 3.2
Sangli is a city in west central India
noted for its production of Turmeric.
The Dandekar family is prominent in the
Inscribed as described above, the soft,
warm, original finish is present, with
no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and
clear detail, with no removals, repairs
or alterations, make this an especially
