Incredibly Rare Hunger Striker Memorial Belt From 1981
This is an amazing piece of Irish History, which is in really good condition.
This belt was made back in 1981 to remember the men that died in the hunger strike and support either the IRA\'s cause or the families of the hunger strikers although i have been unable to confirm this.
The names of the 10 hunger strikers are branded along the length of the belt along with an M16 Machine gun on each end. The buckle is the Pheonix rising from the Ashes, which is made out of cast brass.
This was left to me in a will when my great uncle died, my grandfather kept it for me and asked me when I was 18 if I wanted it. The only reason it was left to me was because as a young boy of 10 in the early 80\'s, I had liked the guns on it.
I have kept it safe since the 1991. I have no political interest and feel that it would be better off with a collector or supporter etc. The story goes that these were made in the prisons but yet again I have been unable to confirm this.
