Jamin Darlot Est. 8in Portrait Brass Lens With Slot For Waterhouse Stop C1860/62 For Sale
JAMIN DARLOT Est. 8in Portrait Brass lens with Slot for Waterhouse Stop c1860/62.
Jamin's business was taken over by Darlot in 1860, and renamed Darlot. For about a year (1860/1), lenses carried both the Jamin and Darlot names. This example on offer, circa1860/1862, has an estimated 8-inch (200mm) focal length. The lens is compact looking with letters A & B and portrait marked on barrel. It offers provisions for Waterhouse stop (not included) and push/pull focus at A & B marked points. Front/rear glass diameters are 45mm wide and easily covers formats to 8x6-inch. The brass barrel shows normal wear and ageing with tarnish in places – but free from dents. However, the lens optics is surprisingly clean, considering how old the lens is – though there is one slight surface mark on front glass, but free from, fungus, clouding or separations. The lens measures approximately 90mm long (including hood depth of 20mm). Rear screw mounting is 70mm – (flange not included). No serial number.
