The inlaid gold and silver art work depicts a large sailboat with seagulls flying overhead. This ship is the mythical treasure ship of the pantheon of 7 gods of luck in Japanese folklore. These gods would travel together on New Year's Eve to various human ports to dispense happiness. On the back side you can see two more small sailboats on the water.
