If you have been collecting interesting military timepieces for a while, I think you’re going to appreciatethe following rare vintageWWII watch-alarm from the German Watch Company of JUNGHANS, dating to ca 1930-40’s. In these years, manymanufacturers supplied watches mainly for military purposes and this specimenis executed in a military style.This military model of watch wasused in military German Army and remained the privilege of officers. It is apiece of history that survived the war on the Eastern front which saw much ofthe bloodiest battles of WW2!
This admirable timepiece features arestored metal dial. The black face featuresa 60 minute outer track border, easily readable Arabic numerals, steel hands,central hand for the set of alarm and a second’s dial with 60 second outerchapter. The dial is signed ’JUNGHANS’.
This military watch with amanual wind has three-piececase. The winding crown is inexcellent shape, operating smoothly. Thehands set is operated by a setting lever in the movement, which function isactivated by a pusher. You press the little button near the crown IN and thenmove the crown to set the hands, releasing the button once you’re finished.It’s easy, so don’t worry about getting the hang of it!
This unique watch is mechanical and completely original. The original movement of this watch is encased that allows to protectthe mechanism from dust and debris and to provide an extra layer of protectionfrom shock or moisture. The inside case lid shows finely engraved company logo in the form of the eight-pointedstar and letter \"J\" in it and the inscription ’JUNGHANS’.
This is an astonishing timepiece with signal function. The pin on the inner lid of the watch setsthe alarm hand. On the inner case lid there is also a lever to switch (“Alarm or Stop”). The movement is in an excellent status whichwas very well saved, considering age of this watch.
Thiswatch was converted to wristwatch.
The watch is fitted on a new 20 mm black genuine high-quality leather strapwith chrome steel buckle. The beautiful strap that is stitched by whitethreads is military style and goes very well with this wonderful watch.

History: Gebr JunghansUhrenfabrik was established by Erhard Junghans brother-in-law JakobZeller-Tobler in 1861 inthe Black Forest, making parts for watchproduction. The precision of Junghans work quickly became synonymous withoutstanding quality of manufacturing, and the foundation was laid for acomplete watchmaking enterprise.
TheJunghans brand was established in 1866.
AfterErhard\'s death in 1870, the company was run by his sons Arthur and Erhard Jr.
Followingthe registration as early as 1877 of the first factory trademark, \"eaglewith Flag\", the JUNGHANS trademark, a clock cogwheel fashioned into aneight-pointed star, became the brand symbol in 1890.
In1903 JUNGHANS was the largest clock-maker in the world. They were well-knownfor producing a wide variety of watches.
Productionof wristwatches begins in 1927.
Thecompany further expanded over years merging with other well-known Germanclockmakers including Lenzkirch, Thomas Haller and Gustav Becker.
Afterwar and dismantling, the end of the Black Forestclockmaker seemed to have come. But under great-grandson Helmuth Junghans thework of reconstruction was begun.
Today,this factory, largest in Germany,is owned by Diehl.
