  Up for a sale is this 3 gallon jug made by James Franklin Seagle. This jug is new to the market having been stored in Elmore County, Alabama
for decades. The previous owner dug it out of storage to sell at a partial estate sale recently. I am not satisfied with the color shown on my computer screen.
It is actually a real dark green and some of the thick alkaline glaze runs almost look black in person. On my screen the color shows up lighter. I'm sure you jug
hound's are familiar with the actual color, especially the NC folks that see the Seagle pieces. I have looked and looked and can only find the chip on the mouth. It appears to be a small narrow chip on the inside edge of the mouth opposite the chip shown but that is actually glaze that is darker and shining. There are a few tiny glaze pops that may show up as white specks on the side of the jug. Capacity is 3 gallons and the jug is marked JFS. (See Close Up Photo's).

Looks like J. F. Seagle ran his two fingers down the wet clay and formed two grooves when making the handle.
The two grooves were filled partially with the alkaline glaze and formed the two stripes.

The jug is about 20 inches tall. No repairs. Of course the exact age is unknown but
James Franklin Seagle was born in 1829 and died in 1892.

I always go overboard when packing a fragile item like this jug so due to my overpacking
I will pay half of the shipping cost. I will also pay for the insurance. I will ship be shipping with FedEx unless you insist on another shipper.

Ignore the shipping cost if it seems excessive.

On Mar-06-13 at 19:29:06 PST, seller added the following information:

~~~ SEE REVISIONS BELOW ~~~
IGNORE THE SHIPPING COST.
THE WINNING buyer WILL PAY $20 TOTAL FOR SHIPPING PROVIDED THIS ITEM IS SHIPPED WITHIN THE US48.
I SAID IN MY DESCRIPTION THAT THE JUG HAD A FEW TINY GLAE POPS.
THE JUG DOES NOT HAVE ANY GLAZE POPS.
WHAT I WAS CALLING A GLAZE POP IN ONE AREA IS ACTUALLY A TINY WHITE PEBBLE
COVERED WITH THE ORIGINAL GLAZE AS SHOWN IN THE ABOVE PHOTO.
THE PHOTO ABOVE SHOWS A TINY PEBBLE THAT HAD THE GLAZE KNOCKED OFF
THE TOP OF IT. THERE ARE NOT OTHER SPOTS LIKE THIS ON THE JUG.
DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS OR REQUEST ADDITIONAL PICTURES.
