This is a really lovely vase - a Japanese, late 19th century, brass and mixed metal moon flask measuring 7.5 inches, or 19 cm in height engraved and decorated with inlaid silver, copper and brass on copper and iron panels. One side is a cast iron round plaque and on the other side, a copper round plaque, both of which appear to be soldered on the inside with small metal lugs to the brass body of the vase. It is finely decorated all over with inlaid silver flowers and birds, some also in copper and brass, with inlaid trees and foliage. On the shoulders are inlaid silver flowers and engraved leaves. The copper panel is loose. It does not fall out, it is not removable, but it is loose, so I assume the solder inside has failed over the years. If there was a base plate, it is now missing. Please see all the photos for detail.
