ABOUT THE TRADITION:

Koinobori(鯉幟?), meaning \"carp streamer\" in Japanese, arecarp-shapedwind sockstraditionally flown in Japan to celebrateTango no Sekku(端午の節句?), a traditional calendrical event which is now designated a national holiday;Children\'s Day(Kodomo no Hi, 子供の日).These wind socks are made by drawing carp patterns on paper, cloth or other nonwoven fabric. They are then allowed to flutter in the wind. They are also known as satsuki-nobori(皐幟?).

Children\'s Day takes place on May 5, the last day ofGolden Week, the largest break for workers and also a week in which businesses usually close for up to 9–10 days. Landscapes across Japan are decorated withkoinoborifrom April to early May, in honor of sons for a good future and in the hope that they will grow up healthy and strong.

{wikipedia. More from ssc4tansu below:}

The Carp has always been regarded for its determination and strong will. This notion of the carp being a symbol of strength and tenacity can be traced back to a legend in China where a saying goes that a carp can swim against the current up the fast-flowing Hwang Ho river to become a dragon. They are frequently shown in Japanese artwork as swimming up waterfalls or strong river currents. Throughout all of Japan, the Koi Nobori is displayed across the yards of each family\'s home, about a week before May 5th to a week after. The colorful sight (especially when viewed from the Bullet Train) is incredible as they are seen strewn across the countryside.

ABOUT ME:
My career began in the Garment District of New York City. I remember going on lunch breaks walking by a plethora of Italian men who were hanging out chatting. They were the sample makers. I went to sample sales at every opportunity while I was scrounging to make ends meet and still look fabulous.

Fast forward many years and I have been fortunate to travel the world while working in fashion and retail. I have a tendency to like European designers, especially Escada and Feraud as their fit is consistent and seems to work with the American body type (especially for those of us who are not perfect!)

When in Frankfurt, I would take two trains and a taxi to hit my favorite outlet store. I believe in the European way of ‘wardrobing’: having a few, high quality items versus a lot of junk.

But our closets are bursting and it\'s time to go and I have begun exploring other closets to add to this one ... always hunting with that eye for quality and workmanship!

I promise to always describe and measure accurately, and will note any flaws so offer with confidence.

... I WILL BE HAPPY TO COMBINE SHIPPING ...
